How to Use this Site

Recipe Info

This site has a mix of original/adapted recipes (ones I’ve tried frequently and made adjustments to), as well as recipes from other people. Recipes from others will be credited as such and linked when applicable. Recipes that I’ve made adjustments to may still be credited to the original source as it provides additional insight. Please ask any questions or voice any praises or concerns in the comments as they will aid other bakers. In today’s online world, I love looking at comments for additional tips or recipe modifications. Anything I find particularly useful I will include in the “tips and tricks” section of the relevant recipe!

Commonly Used Ingredients

Butter, eggs, milk, salt, flour… most of the recipes found here will contain at least one of those ingredients! I always use the highest quality ingredients I have on hand for my bakes and have found that for the most part they improve the taste, texture, and consistency. Full disclosure, I love Costco and most often buy my baking ingredients from there. I find I can purchase higher quality goods for less than the same quantity of a lower quality good at a typical grocery store. I only advise buying in bulk if you intend to the use the ingredients timely, because money will be wasted if ingredients expire!

Here’s a list of some common baking ingredients used and which brand/type I use:

  • Butter – Kerrygold (salted)
  • Flour – King Arthur All-Purpose
  • Sugar – Kirkland Organic Cane Sugar
  • Milk – unspecified brands, but always Whole Milk
  • Eggs – unspecified brands, but typically free range or organic Large eggs
  • Salt – Diamond Crystal
  • Vanilla – Kirkland Vanilla Extract
